The Because Mothers Matter Awards (BMMA) is a national initiative celebrating the unwavering love, commitment and contributions of ALL mothers and mother figures across Canada.
Since 2015, the Because Mothers Matter Awards (BMMA) have served as a powerful tribute to the resilience, dedication and transformative influence of mothers and mother figures.
Organized by Mothers Matter Canada, these awards have honoured both prominent Canadian mothers and outstanding At-Home in Canada program participants.
Anyone can nominate a mother or a mother figure in their life.
You can nominate your mother, a friend you admire or a mentor who has helped you grow!
Anyone who is a mother or has played a maternal role in someone’s life!
To be eligible to win one of our prizes, the person must reside in Canada.

Yes! A separate nomination form is required for each nominee.
Each person may only be nominated by the same nominator once. Duplicate submissions will not be counted.
You can increase a nominee’s chances of winning by including a photo of the nominee or entering our Instagram contest.
The nomination period is from April 24th to May 31st.
If you want the person you’re nominating to receive their award on Mother’s day, make sure to submit by Thursday, May 7th.
Certificates are sent within 3 business days.
You can also choose to send it on Mother’s Day, as long as you submit a nomination by 11:59PM on Thursday, May 7th.
You will receive a confirmation email after submitting your nomination.
If you have not receive any communications from us within 24h after submitting your certificate, please contact us.
The winners will be contacted by June 15th.
